Liz's thoughts...

Like Meg, after my presentation last week I came to a few conclusions of my own for this project. As you are all aware I am really interested in cable and chunky knits. As I am a knitter, Angharad and Claire thought it would be interesting for me to actually engage with my specialism within this project as it seems a shame to have a project where I cant do any practical knitting when that is what I do, therefore I am going to start sampling some of the patterns at the archive as part of my investigations.
We also spoke about how I often mention my Nan who has played a big role in my love for knitting. We all thought it would be a good experience to bring my Nan into my investigation, and have her help me through parts of the patterns I don't understand, and getting stories and images from her that relate to my interest in cables. We thought that I could start some samples, and my Nan could finish them, whilst we chat about things she has knitted or items she remembers from her past. I'm treating my Nan as my own personal archive of knitting knowledge!
